Melodía Cultural Center opened on June 22, 2001. Our purpose is to provide improved opportunities for educational and cultural development to the community of Villa Hayes. We build links between diverse organizations, public and private institutions, and individuals to deliver a unique service to the community.
Our library is open to the public, and access to virtual libraries is made available to students, together with computers and free internet access, in order to carry out research activities. School support classes and other activities with teachers from the community's educational institutions are offered in collaboration with local and foreign volunteers.
We have sponsored the creation of the local chapter of Sonidos de la Tierra, and the formation of the Presidente Hayes Chamber Orchestra. We have also sponsored Chaco Digital, an organization working to introduce the One Laptop per Child program to the schools in the Department of Presidente Hayes.
Cultural evening activities for the community are held with theatre, demonstrations, painting exhibits, book launchings, training workshops and seminars, and music and dance presentations.
Melodía is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 and 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:00 to 7:00 pm from February to December
